Also known as Shomu-en, or Pine Mist Forest, also had the honor of pruning the garden during the first Chihuly Exhibit as an interactive experience for the visitors.During the major renovations of 2019-2020 I was asked to assist landscape architect Sadefumi Uchiyama with the planting plan for the space; both honoring the initial design that includes native species, and adding useful Japanese garden plants based on my time in Japan, and a life spent in the humid southeastern United States. My work continues in this garden, pruning the many trees and shrubs that make up this space with the Cheekwood garden team.
